god spell

The energy I felt when people arrived was exciting the reason when I sat there in my seat watching people coming in the theatre told me that the show was going to be very interesting and new because I never seen god spell. After the show was finish the audience got on there feet and click showing how good is god spell was and it wasn’t a surprise to me because I thought the show was good because the actors interact with the audience by talking to them and have intermissions and asks the audience if they want some punch and also during the intermission they talk with some of the audience members. Unlike films you just seat there and watch the movie you can laugh and react to different situations but there is not intermissions to get refreshments and the you cant interact with the actors because they are in the movie screen. In god spell the major conflict was Jesus trying to help his disciples turn away from all the material things in the world. The climax was when Judas betrayed Jesus for two pieces of sliver. The characters in the play wanted knowledge from Jesus so he can show them the way of god. The subject of the play was to flow the ten commandments because through out the play they show examples from the ten commandments for example when a father gave his two sons land and money of their own but one of the sons blow all his money and had to work for a pig farmer and then decide to come back home and his father death care what happen to his money and cared that his son came back come home and throw him a [arty but when his bother heard what happen and complained to his father but his father told him to forgive him and he did. The idea is not to be the victim of the world and it bad ways for example when one of Jesus followers wanted to \pard softlinemate with one of the female followers he stop him and told he why it was not a good idea like what my cousin tells me all the time Satan is not ugly meaning the beautiful things in this world can harm you the most and showing you how Satan can temp you with all forms of the world. The climactic of the play was loyalty because Jesus trust his followers but end up getting betrayed by Judas even though Jesus knew what was his future. The form of the play was comedy for example when they had a stunt double for the two bothers when they had trust issues and also when they was copying actors voices in some of the scenes and when they put humor in there dance scenes which was very funny. But overall the play god spell was very good and realize why it show on Broadway and would recommend people to watch to see some thing new

minstrel show

Minstrel shows emerged from European traditions of masking and carnival. But in the US it began in the 1830s, with working class white men dressing up as plantation slaves. These men imitate black musicals and dance forms combining savage parody of black Americans with genuine fondness for African American cultural forms. By the Civil War the minstrel show had become famous and respectable. By the 1840s the minstrel show had become one of the central events in the Democratic party.White performers would blacken their faces with burnt cork or greasepaint, dress in outlandish costumes, and then perform songs and skits that mocked African Americans. The minstrel had three stock characters that were among several that reappeared in minstrel shows throughout the nineteenth century Jim Crow was the stereotypical carefree slave, Mr. Tambo a joyous musician, and Zip Coon a free slave attempting to rise above his station.Before the Civil War black men could not appear in minstrel shows. But some of the black men would put on minstrel makeup and appearing as white men imitating black men. Later, in the twentieth century several of the most famous minstrels were actually black men who wore makeup for example Bert Williams, who performed in blackface in the 1920s for exampleThe first talkng picture The JazzSinger 1927 .Minstrel shows continued to be popular in the 1950s, and highschools, fraternities and local theater groups would often perform minstrel shows in blackface. It became unpopular as African Americans asserted more politcal power in the 1950s.

Minstrel show stayed popular until the 1970s, when blacks and whites agreed that it was racial against blacks and stopped it from showing on television.

arlechinno-From a primitive naïve and simple character, he evolves into a smart, more sophisticated one, that with his simplicity outwits all the arrogant and greedy personages with whom he interacts.
capitano- The mask of the Captain with all certainty widely pleased the population which was oppressed by those mercenary occupation armies, as very often happened in the Italy of 16th century, kind of a platonic revenge toward the oppressor, and especially toward the mercenary soldiers, mainly ignorant, violent brutes who would take advantage in all senses of the poor subordinate populations.






columbina- is what the Innamorata is not: free, insolent, not slave of love bonds,
sometimes brilliant, vane always, chatterer, gossiper, always prone to intrigue at somebody else's expenses. A sort of Harlequinn in female clothes, and in fact she comes up in certain setups as Harlequina , with a patched costume duplicate of Harlequin's.She is usually Harlequin's companion, and only woman to sometimes wear a mask on stage, Colombina brings that female pepper and intransigence to the plot.

dottore-The Doctor is the second old folk together with Pantaloon in the Commedia dell'Arte, and first appears on stage in the mid 16th century, with the name of Graziano, which later became Dottor Balanzone. The Doctor character is normally used in the Commedia dell'Arte plays to put a break in the action, with empty, pre-fabricated and supposedly erudite monologues.Sort of a drums or bass solo in Jazz, which gives the time to the other musicians to take a break and go drink something or put a new reed on their saxophone.

the innamorati-The Lovers bring into the Commedia dell'Arte those little touches of soap opera and feuilleton around which the action may easily be developed. Important in their role as much as with a flat personality the Innamorati helped the public to identify and sink deep in the stories
isabella-The Isabella character is certainly the most known among all female Lovers, due to the great intelligence and stage performance of Isabella Andreini

pantalone-Pantaloon plays the ideal counterpart of an Harlequin always without money, the Zanni, poor immigrant always hungry, Brighella, and countless other characters.

pulcinella-Philosophical, eternally melancholic, dreamer as only a representative of the Neapolitan culture could be, Pulcinella has a spirit all of his own. No tensions or despair, his melancholic approach to life makes him coast problems, situations, live adventures and at the end simply getting out of everything, in the same simple manner as how he got involved

vittoria- one of those characters which appeared in the Commedia dell'Arte in almost all plays, although keeping a low profile which got more personality with time, developing into more elaborate and important characters such as Colombina, Corallina, Franceschina, Mirandolina and, in one of her disguises, also Arlecchinetta

zanni-Zanni, as much as Harlequin, is originary from Bergamo. The lower Bergamo of course, "Bergam de hüta", where all the poor come from, and he's part of that emigrant population that has to mingle into an hostile environment to survive.Zanni means the first name Giovanni in the dialect of Bergamo, the most common of all Italian names, sort of a John Doe of the times
